The G20 monument at the entrance to Ngurah Rai Grand (Tahura) Forest Park Area, Pemogan Village, South Denpasar District, Denpasar City is very interesting.
The stunning design adds to the beauty of one of the areas which is the official venue for the G20 Summit in Bali on November 15-16, 2022.
“How do we take a formation that represents the G20 countries, and what are our hopes from this G20 meeting,” said Popo Danes when contacted by NusaBali on Saturday (12/11).
The G20 monument is in the form of red flower petals or flames taken from the G20 2022 logo. These flower petals mean to give beauty as well as a sign of strength that can become new energy to build a world better.
The red flower petals are surrounded by 20 silver blades that seem to move to the right. It describes 20 countries that are strong and moving together in a positive direction.
The architect, who is known to be passionate about fighting for Balinese architecture, added that the rotation of the G20 monument is also in line with Balinese Hindu philosophy in the Mandara Giri Screening story. The Mandara Giri projection is a mythology about finding tirtha amertha, the holy water of life believed to bring healing and eternal life.
“So if the twenty members of the G20 move together in a positive way, it will create new energy for the world,” said this architect from Banyuatis village, Banjar district, Buleleng.
Then, on the track, there is a black belt bearing the names of 20 G20 member countries. Popo Danes said that the name Indonesia faces northeast (kaja kangin) which according to Balinese Hindu belief is a sacred direction as it leads to Mount Agung.
Below the belt, there is a five-story platform, which means the G20 is being held in a country based on Pancasila.
The Udayana University alumnus said he designed the G20 monument after receiving a mandate from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR). The process of making the G20 monument goes through several stages and takes about eight months. Just in Saniscara Kliwon Krulut, on July 23, 2022, the G20 monument was completed and inaugurated.
In the process of determining the design, Popo Danes coordinated with the Director General of Human Settlements Diana Kusumastuti. Regarding the red flower petals or flames taken from the G20 logo, Popo Danes asked permission from Seto Adi Witonoyo, as head of the creative team that designed the G20 logo.
He added that the main part of the G20 monument is made of cast aluminium. Moreover, outside the G20 monument, red ornamental plants are deliberately planted to make it more striking and beautiful. “We are specifically looking for experts to build the statue, his name is Pak Dunadi from Jogja,” Popo Danes said.
Please note that the G20 is a multilateral cooperation forum made up of 19 major countries and the European Union (EU). The G20 represents more than 60% of the world’s population, 75% of world trade and 80% of world GDP. G20 members include South Africa, United States, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Russia, France, China and Turkey. and the European Union.
From December 1, 2021 to November 30, 2022, Indonesia will be responsible for holding the G20 Presidency in 2022. In this Presidency, Indonesia carries the theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger” or “Recover Together, Rise More Mighty” . Through this theme, Indonesia wants to invite the whole world to work hand in hand and support each other to recover together, especially in the economic field, and become stronger and more sustainable. *cr78
