Five people died in a mass shooting at a condo tower in Vaughan, Toronto, Canada Sunday (12/18) evening local time. The suspected shooter died in a clash with police.
Reported by the media Radio CanadaMonday (19/12/2022), it is not yet known what triggers it mass shooting this, but York County Police Chief Jim MacSween said five people died at the scene.
He added that a sixth victim had been taken to hospital but was expected to survive. MacSween said the suspected shooter was shot while interacting with police.
MacSween said there were no more threats against the community after filming This. He also sent his condolences to the family of the victim.
“We are in the process of notifying the families, so at this time I cannot share any information about the victim or the subject,” he said.
The City of Vaughan is located in the Regional Municipality of York, just north Toronto. Filming took place in a condominium complex not far from one of Vaughan’s most famous attractions, Canada’s Wonderland.
The motive for the shooting is not yet known. MacSween said it would take time to determine the motive for the shooting. The identity of the perpetrators and victims has not been disclosed.
He said officers arrived on the scene “rather quickly and went straight into the building and dealt with the situation”.
