F1 news: Max Verstappen will become the greatest driver in Formula 1 history before he retires, says former team owner Eddie Jordan.
In the final race of the Canadian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen took his 41st career win to equal Ayrton Senna’s tally.
Verstappen is now fifth all-time in race wins and seventh all-time on the podium at just 25 years old.
The Dutch driver has dominated 2022 en route to his second F1 title and is set to win his third world title this year amid a strong start to the season.
Red Bull’s incredible pace at the start of the 2023 season has led to the idea that they can win every race available, a feat that has never been achieved before.
Verstappen has previously denied it was feasible, after Red Bull team boss Christian Horner also remained cautious about commenting on the prospect.
“We only take one race at a time, and I don’t think you let your mind drift too far into the future, so many things can go wrong,” said Horner. Sky F1.
Verstappen’s dominance has fans pointing to the boredom of the past 18 months in Formula 1.
Jordan said it was worse than Schumacher’s dominance in the early 2000s and he backed Verstappen to become F1’s greatest driver.
“Max Verstappen will emerge from time to time to become the greatest driver of all time,” said Jordan, speaking on the podcast formula for success. “He’s so good.
“I didn’t like the last races, I have to tell you. I’m bored to death with him. He’s so good. He made it boring, more than in Schumacher’s days.”
