Jakarta (ANTARA) – Rory McIlroy has significant capital in preparation for the 2022 US Open major golf tournament after successfully defending his Canadian Open title in Canada, June 9-12.
The Northern Irish golfer won his 21st PGA Tour title after recording 261 strokes, or 19 under par, to win by two strokes over American Tony Finau.
“It's a day I'll remember for a long time. It's my 21st victory on the PGA Tour,” McIlroy said as reported by the Independent on Monday.

McIlroy performed well during his four days of competition in Canada. He beat out several other top golfers such as Justin Thomas who finished in third place with 265 (-15) and Justin Rose in fourth place after posting 266 (-16).
More than that, this victory also provides capital for McIlroy to face the US Open which will take place at the Country Club of Brookline, Massachusetts, from June 16-19.
McIlroy will struggle to repeat his success of 2011 when he won the US Open with a record of 268 (-16).
Since this victory, McIlroy has failed to become the best again. In his last appearance in 2021, he was only able to occupy the T7 position.
In that time, McIlroy recorded 283 strokes, one under par. He lost by five strokes to Spaniard Jon Rahm, winner of last year's US Open.
