F1 News: Mick Schumacher is eager to test drive the Mercedes W02, which was his father Michael’s car when he was still active in F1, at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Mick Schumacher will have a valuable opportunity in July. He was allowed to drive the Mercedes W02 car, which was used by his father, Michael, at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. For your information, the land jet was used by the legend in 2011.
Mick should also finish the race with the W02 car for 2 days, namely Saturday and Sunday. For information, the festival lasts three days from July 14 to 16.
“It’s going to be spectacular to drive my dad’s 2011 car, the W02, even if it’s only for a short time. Just getting to know this generation of cars will be mega!” Mick said excitedly, as Crash reports.
“Knowing that he is driving this car makes him special, and there will be a lot of emotion that goes with it. I had the chance to drive one of his Benetton cars and some of the Ferraris he drove, but it will be my first time behind the Mercedes he is driving,” continues the young German.
“I’m sure I’ll come out of this with a big smile,” he said.
Although it contributed steadily to the points as Mercedes eventually claimed fourth place in the final 2011 F1 constructors’ standings, the W02 car’s best finish was fourth at the Canadian Grand Prix. As long as the team is competing in the main class, this land jet is the only one belonging to the Silver Arrows that has never entered the podium area.
Before joining Mercedes, Michael Schumacher represented Jordan, Benetton and Ferrari.
