Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Chlolil Quomas has extended Amany Lubis’ tenure as Chancellor of Syarif Hidayatullah Islamic State University until a new rector is elected. Amany Lubis should have retired on Saturday (7/1) tomorrow.
“Decided. Established. FIRST. Effective January 7, 2023, the tenure for the additional duties of Prof. Dr. Hj Amany Burhanuddin Umar Lubis MA, Professor with additional duties as Chancellor of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Jakarta, until the appointment and inauguration of the new Chancellor,” reads the decree of the Minister of Religion obtained by detik.com, Friday (6/1/2023).
Number SK 000002/B.II/3/2023 was signed by Minister of Religion Yaqut on January 3, 2023. The reason was that the Minister of Religion considered Amany competent and qualified for an additional term in as chancellor. of the UIN.
“The person concerned benefits from a function allowance in accordance with the legal provisions”, writes the minister of worship in his decision.
The UIN Jakarta website states that Amany was born in Cairo, Egypt on December 22, 1963. He studied at Al-Azhar University in the Department of English Literature and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree (Lc) in 1988 After that, he was awarded a Shot Scholarship in Women’s Studies at McGill University Canada (1997).
His Masters degree was obtained from the Graduate School of IAIN Jakarta in the field of Islamic Cultural History Studies program in Islamic Studies. In 2002, he received his PhD in Islamic Cultural History from the Islamic Studies Studies Program at UIN Jakarta’s Postgraduate School. This professor of Islamic political history was also vice-dean of general administration at the Faculty of Islamic Studies for the period 2003-2009.
