Misappropriation of money from car sales of arrested Canadian citizens and villa employees

AMLAPURA, BALIPOST.com – Toni Setiawan (39), an employee of a villa in Karangasem, who embezzled IDR 93 million from the sale of a car and also took away a motorcycle belonging to a named Canadian citizen, was arrested by the police. The suspect was arrested at Jalan Ahmad Yani, Denpasar on Wednesday (9/8).

Head of the Karangasem Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Ida Bagus Purwata Manuaba, revealed on Thursday (10/8) that the perpetrator was arrested while walking in Jalan Ahmad Yani, Denpasar. During his arrest, the attacker did not offer any resistance.

“The attacker admitted his actions. “And after being arrested, we immediately took the attacker to the Karangasem police for questioning and further investigation,” Manuaba said.

Manuaba said that according to initial information, the money from the sale of the car, amounting to IDR 93 million, was used to play the online game and also to pay debts. The motorcycle taken by the attacker was also sold.

“It’s just that, to confirm this, we are currently also investigating the victim’s account with the perpetrator through the bank used by the perpetrator, to see whether the money was actually used or not,” Manuaba said. (Eka Parananda/balipost)
