Multi-stakeholder cooperatives adapted to millennials

JAKARTA, NusaBali – Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Teten Masduki, said the multi-stakeholder cooperative model is very suitable for millennials in creating startups as it carries the concept of collaborative economy.

“It’s a great fit for millennials in building their startups, as it has the advantage of aggregating various modalities and becoming leverage for business,” MenKopUKM Teten said during his keynote at the webinar commemorating the 71st anniversary of the Association of Indonesian Engineers, PII with the Indonesian multi-stakeholder engineering cooperatives, as Antara reported on Tuesday.

Multi-stakeholder cooperatives regulated by Regulation Number 8 of 2021 of the Minister of Cooperatives can develop the national industrial sector by following current developments that lead to forms of sharing economy or collaborative economy, where the business approach is carried out in aggregating the actors of all the industrial value chains in a company under the cooperative container.

Moreover, the government is also trying to provide additional space for cooperatives and MSMEs to be more competitive and encourage economic growth through a gradual industrialization policy of import substitution in the purchase of public goods and services. .

“Import-substitution industrialization involving multi-stakeholder cooperatives can be an attractive approach to reduce import dependence on the primary sector, especially since we have an extraordinary comparative advantage that we can take advantage of,” said he declared.

The convenience of the Cooperatives Bill as a revision of Act Number 25 of 1992, which is currently being encouraged by the government to enter the DPR session immediately, should also be able to provide commercial space for cooperatives and to work with all sectors of activity.

On the same occasion, Aditya Putra, Head of Cooperative Compliance and Reporting System at the Ministry of Cooperatives, said that the multi-stakeholder cooperative model has been implemented in various countries, such as Italy, Canada, Portugal and France.

The advantage of multi-actor cooperatives over the old conventional cooperative models is the ability to consolidate and mobilize various resources attached to member groups. These various resources range from capital, labor, formulas/HAKI to technology and data.

Most of them were established in West Java and are in producer and service types.

“This number may have increased further, including the cooperative which this morning was just being validated. In other words, this trend proves that the people of Indonesia have started to seize the opportunities that exist in multi-stakeholder cooperatives,” he said. -he declares.

The growth of multi-stakeholder cooperatives is also seen by Aditya as a form of growing millennials’ confidence to no longer underestimate cooperatives and make them commercial legal entities. 7
