NASA is using artificial intelligence to predict the apocalypse on Earth that will occur due to solar storms hitting Earth.
As Science Alert reported, it uses AI technology to estimate various potential solar storm threats to Earth. According to NASA calculations, humans in one area of the Earth only have 30 minutes to prepare.
According to the NASA model, 30 minutes is the difference between the speed of light and the time it takes for matter ejected from the Sun to reach the Earth’s surface. About 35 years ago, for example, a solar storm cut off the Canadian city of Quebec for hours.
An even more devastating phenomenon occurred in Carrington, England – which is famous for being the training ground of Manchester United football club – around 150 years ago.
Had the Carrington events occurred in the modern age, the electrical and communications infrastructure could have been completely destroyed.
The dangers of solar flares have long been known to scientists. They used references to the impact of solar flares on other planets and made observations using various satellites such as ACE, Wind, IMP-8 and Geotail.
However, with AI, we can predict what would happen if a solar flare hit Earth directly.
