Tennis News: Novak Djokovic is set to meet Carlos Alcaraz in the French Open semi-final, Roland Garros after the draw was announced in Paris.
A Serbian national, Djokovic will be aiming for a third Roland-Garros title this season and will enter the Grand Slam as the third seed.
It comes after Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev overtook him in the rankings after winning the Masters 1000 tournament titles in Madrid and Rome respectively.
The 2023 Australian Open champion will enter Roland Garros with just five wins on clay and will meet Spaniard Alcaraz en route to the final.
Before thinking about this hot match, the tennis player with 22 Grand Slam titles must defeat Aleksandar Kovacevic and Marton Fucsovics in the first two rounds before potentially meeting Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the third round.
Djokovic then has the chance to meet Hubert Hurkacz in the round of 16.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz will start Roland-Garros against a qualifier or a lucky loser in the opening match before facing Christopher O’Connell or Taro Daniel in the second round.
Denis Shapovalov could wait for the Spaniard in the third round if the Canadian manages to defeat Brandon Nakashima in the opener. He then has the chance to meet Cameron Norrie or Lorenzo Musetti in the round of 16 before advancing to the quarter-finals, which has the potential to challenge Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Greek tennis player, Tsitsipas earned a fairly easy draw even though he was able to meet Felix Auger Aliassime in the fourth round.
Then champion in Rome for the 2023 season, Medvedev will start Roland-Garros by facing a qualifier or a lucky loser in the first round before challenging Quentin Halys or Guido Pella.
Yoshihito Nishioka, Alex De Minaur and Borna Coric were all potential obstacles before Medvedev had a hot match in the quarterfinals against Jannik Sinner. Before that, the Italian tennis player had to defeat Grigor Dimitrov and Frances Tiafoe.
In another draw, French Open 2022 runner-up Casper Ruud will also face a qualifier or lucky loser in the opening match. Players like Alexander Bublik and Botic van de Zandschulp can expect him to meet Tommy Paul or Jan Lennard Struff in the fourth round.
In the quarter finals, Ruud has the chance to meet Holger Rune who recently met in Rome with a Danish tennis player, Rune won the match.
Rune’s main hurdle is a second-round clash with the potential to meet Gael Monfils before facing Taylor Fritz in the Round of 16.
