Former US President Barack Obama criticized the hypocrisy of Western countries that paid different attention to the sinking of the immigrant ship and the Titan submarine
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ATHENA — Former President of the United States barack obama Thursday (22/6/2023) criticized the hypocrisy of Western countries regarding the two recent incidents, in particular regarding the sinking of an immigrant ship with the Titan submarine. According to Obama, the two disturbing incidents do not receive the same attention.
The migrant ship that sank off the southwest coast of Greece has killed at least 82 people and hundreds more are missing. The fact is that the Western media pays more attention to titan submarine which also sank to the bottom of the ocean with five people who went missing off Newfoundland, Canada.
“There is more attention paid to the Titanic submarine than to the migrant ship that sank off the coast of Greece is ‘rotten,’” Obama said during an appearance in the Greek capital, Athens.
Obama called facts like this a situation that should not be allowed to continue. He rejects the idea that democracy in the West cannot be a solution. According to him, this is completely false. “We know we can do something for these people,” Obama said, referring to the flow of migrants to developed countries.
Obama came to Greece to participate in the Nostos 2023 conference organized by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
