F1 News: In Monaco, Oscar Piastri shone with a 2nd place, during the previous GP at Imola, he finished fourth. In Canada, he hopes that his good results will continue.
Oscar Piastri had to cede victory at the prestigious Monte-Carlo Grand Prix to local hero Charles Leclerc. However, the young Australian from the McLaren team was still happy when he crossed the finish line in second place behind the Ferrari star. Looking back, he said enthusiastically:
“Monaco is very special, it was obvious to see all day there and to fight for the podium in the colors of Ayrton Senna on this street circuit was simply sensational.”
“I dreamed of racing in Monaco when I was a kid in Australia, so it’s something very special for me to be on the podium at this classic GP,” said the 23-year-old from Melbourne, currently sixth. in the World Championship rankings.
In Monte Carlo, the 30-time GP participant managed to enter the top 3 for the first time this year – in his rookie season he already achieved this feat twice in Sunday’s race. He is satisfied with his last performance:
“I am very happy with the consistency I have been able to show over the last three race weekends. Progress is never linear, but I really enjoy showing my abilities in this car.”
In Canada, McLaren expects a track that will be more difficult to dominate. Piastri’s teammate Lando Norris warned while taking a look at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit:
“Our car has performed well at different circuits, but we know we have a lot to do in Canada. Our competition will probably be strong here.”
Nevertheless, Piastri hopes to be able to perform again. “I hope we can continue where we left off, because first place is very competitive. And we want more,” he dared to declare war.
