Poland sends 10 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine this week

Bisnis.comJAKARTA – Minister of National Defense Poland Mariusz Blaszczak said his country would send 10 leopard tanks 2nd to Ukraine this week.

Blaszczak said that currently 4 of the 14 Leopard 2 tanks promised by Poland to kyiv are already in Ukraine.

“Ten more will reach Ukraine this week,” he said, as reported by TASS on Wednesday (03/08/2023).

He pointed out that within the framework of the agreement reached with his German counterpart, Boris Pistorius, the Polish side will be responsible for forming a coalition of countries supplying Ukraine with Leopard 2A4 tanks and the German side with Leopard 2A6 tanks.

“The coalition is formed,” he continued.

Furthermore, he added that the supply included 8 tanks from Norway, 8 from Canada, 6 from Spain and tank battalion support vehicles from Finland.

“The battalion has been formed. We are waiting for Minister Pistorius to form the battalion,” he added.

On January 25, the German government announced its intention to supply Ukraine with 14 Leopard 2 tanks and to allow the re-export of these tanks from other countries.

Plans to send tanks to Ukraine have also been announced by Britain, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, France and other countries.

Poland has announced its intention to send 14 tanks to Ukraine. The first 4 tanks were sent to Ukraine from Poland on February 24.

Meanwhile, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said Moscow sees the supply of Western arms to Ukraine as evidence of its growing involvement in the Ukraine conflict.
