Previously, the Canadian ship Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Winnipeg docked at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta. The fleet arrived on Wednesday (8/31/2022).
Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Nadia Burger and Canadian Defense Attaché Colonel Stewart Taylor welcomed the arrival of Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Winnipeg at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta.
HMCS’s visit is a step in continuing to maintain bilateral relations between the two countries, Canada and Indonesia.
“Canada appreciates the strong and growing bilateral defense relationship with Indonesia, as Canada and Indonesia celebrate the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship. This ship visit is an expression of our shared commitment to deepening this increasingly important relationship,” said Nadia Burger, Ambassador of Canada to Indonesia, as stated in a written statement from the Embassy of Canada to Indonesia.
“Canada views Indonesia as an important partner in the Indo-Pacific and appreciates the important role Indonesia plays in the region’s peace, stability and overall prosperity,” he added.
HMCS Winnipeg, a Canadian Navy frigate, arrived in Jakarta for a visit from August 31 to September 3, 2022 while touring the Indo-Pacific on Operation PROJECTION.
The ship will participate in cooperative operations with the Indonesian Navy to enhance security and promote stability in the region.
