Jakarta, CNNIIndonesia —
Vice Prime Minister CanadaChrystia Freeland, was abused in the Grande Prairie Building, Alberta.
The video of the harassment has gone viral on social media. On Twitter, the images have been viewed thousands of times.
“What are you doing?” a man in the video told Freeland.
He also called the Deputy Prime Minister a traitor and a whore.
Freeland is visiting Alberta on a state mission. In this area, he will meet provincial elected officials, business people and workers.
Freeland’s harassment infuriated Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
“We see attacks, we have to ask ourselves what kind of country do we think we are, what kind of country do we want to be,” Trudeau said in a quoted speech. ReutersSunday (28/8).
Before entering politics, Freeland spent 20 years as a journalist.
He was briefly a freelance correspondent based in Ukraine during FinancialTimes, Washington Postand The Economist.
In 2010, Freeland also briefly joined Thomson Reuters Canada. Here he became general manager and editor of the company.
Besides being a journalist, Freeland is a devoted writer.
