Badminton News: Two Indonesian mixed doubles representatives, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto / Lisa Ayu Kusumawati and also Rinov Rivaldy / Pitha Haningtyas Mentari have managed to secure tickets for the Round of 16 of the prestigious 2023 BWF World Championships which took place in Copenhagen at Denmark.
Rehan/Lisa needed just 32 minutes to beat Germany’s Jones pair Rafly Jansen/Linda Wedler in two fairly easy straight games 12-9, 21-12.
Besides, in the round of 16 of the BWF World Championships 2023 on Thursday (24/8), Rehan/Lisa will have a tough match against the Japanese second seeds, Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino who managed to get rid of the mixed doubles of Canada, Ty Alexander Lindeman/Josephine Wu back-to-back 21-12, 21-15 in 30 minutes.
Rinov/Pitha also managed to prevail against the Japanese 15th seeds, Kyohei Yamashita/Naru Shinoya, thanks to a close rubber battle with the score of 21-15, 14-21 and 21-14 in 59 minutes.
Rinov/Pitha will try to qualify for the quarter-finals of the BWF World Championships 2023 against the former world champion who is also the fourth seeded Thai, Dechapol Puavaranukroh / Sapsiree Taerattanachai, who in their previous match managed to bringing home Hong Kong’s mixed doubles Tang Chun Man / Tse Ying Suet fairly easy two-game streak going 21-13 and 21-14 in 38 minutes.
Facing Dechopol/Sapsiree, Rinov/Pitha are currently far behind in their head-to-head record with a crushing 0-4 as the last encounter came in the semi-finals of the BWF World Tour Finals 2022 with a rubber game of 22-24, 21-16 and 14-21.
