“Even in very difficult times, there is always hope,” said the daughter of Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei.
Meng attended a virtual hearing in a federal court in Brooklyn, United States, on Friday local time to sign a deferred prosecution agreement in the fraud case she is accused of.
With the deal, Meng was not charged in the United States and extradition proceedings in Canada were halted, said William Taylor, one of Meng's lawyers.
“He has not pleaded guilty and we hope the charges will be dropped after fourteen months. Now he will be free to return home to his family,” Taylor was quoted as saying. World Time.
Meng has been detained in Canada for almost three years after being arrested at the country's airport in December 2018.
