At least six bodies were found in a swampy area in Quebec, Canadalocated near the border united states of america (WE). The identities of the six bodies remain a mystery, with the cause of death still under investigation by local authorities.
As reported AFPFriday (3/31/2023), discovery of corpse it took place in the Akwesasne region, which is a Mohawk tribal territory located near the border between the provinces of Quebec and Ontario and the American state of New York.
Akwesasne Mohawk Police said in a statement via Facebook on Thursday (30/30) local time that the bodies were “recovered during an aerial search this afternoon with the assistance of the Canadian Coast Guard.” .
“The first body was found around 5:00 p.m. local time in a marshy area,” Akwesasne Mohawk Police said in a statement.
Police also said an investigation into the discovery of the body was ongoing. The identity and citizenship status of the corps are still unclear.
“Police are working to identify these deceased individuals and establish their status in Canada,” Akwesasne Mohawk Police said in a statement.
Local authorities are awaiting the results of the autopsy and toxicology performed on the bodies to find out the cause of death.
Akwesasne Mohawk Police said their marine unit continues to search the same area with the help of the Canadian Coast Guard. In this search, the Mohawk police of Akwesasne also requested air support from the police of the provinces of Quebec and Ontario.
