Bisnis.comJAKARTA – Canadian band Simple Plan will perform in Jakarta and Surabaya in 2024 as part of their Southeast Asia tour titled The Harder Than It Looks Tour to promote their latest album released earlier this year.
Jakarta and Surabaya are the two cities in Indonesia that Simple Plan will visit in this series of tours. They are due to perform at Everblast Festival in Jakarta on March 4, 2023 and W Superclub in Surabaya on March 5, 2023.
Indonesia is one of the four countries visited by Pierre Bouvier (vocals), Chuck Comeau (drums), Sébastien Lefebvre (guitar) and Jeff Stinco (rhythm guitar) during this tour in addition to Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines in March 2023.
About their planned return to Southeast Asia, Simple Plan said that they are very happy to finally be back for fans in Southeast Asia, citing Between.
“It’s a very special place for us. We’ve held some memorable concerts in Asia over the past 20 years and we’re always happy to spend time there,” Simple Plan said in its official statement.
Simple Plan released Harder Than It Looks last May, shortly after celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album, No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls.
Their upcoming Asia tour will also be Simple Plan’s first return to Asia since their successful Taking One For The Team tour in 2016.
In early 2022, Simple Plan welcomed their fans to Indonesia virtually through their appearances on The Tonight Show NET in March 2022 and the Grand Final of X Factor Indonesia 2022 in April 2022 to promote the album Harder Than It Looks.
After playing in Jakarta and Surabaya, they continued their tour in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines in the same month.
From their emergence at the turn of the millennium, to their popularity in the MTV era, to the revival of today’s modern pop-punk sound, Simple Plan has been a fixture of pop culture for over two decades.
Harder Than It Looks is an album that carries the youthful spirit synonymous with Simple Plan’s DNA from day one and simultaneously reinforces the sense of self that has guided Simple Plan through the ups and downs throughout its career.
“It’s really complicated to be in a group for more than 20 years and to move forward while struggling to stay relevant and manage all the challenges that come with it,” said Pierre Bouvier, singer of Simple Plan.
“It’s far from a simple plan – it’s actually a lot harder than it looks. With more hindsight and maturity, we also realize how lucky we are to have the careers that we have now and to still be in this position today.”
Simple Plan will donate $1 from every ticket sale for its tours to the Simple Plan Foundation. Founded in 2005, the Simple Plan Foundation was created to help young people in need.
The Simple Plan Foundation has donated to over 20 charities over the years, with over $350,000 raised in the first 6 months of its inception.
