Sudirman Cup 2023 Group B preview: Indonesia and Thailand favorite teams

Badminton News: All eyes are on Suzhou as the hotly contested Sudirman Cup is just days away. For our Group Previews article, we take a look at the Group B team.

While we have studied the teams that made up Group A for the upcoming TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup 2023 Finals, which will take place May 14-21 in Suzhou, China, we will now focus on Group B.

While Group A has several top players, including favorites China, Group B has no shortage of strong athletes. Starting with Indonesia, a powerful badminton nation, which boasts an incredible list of the best players in the country.

Bronze medalists at the European Mixed Team Championships Germany have a solid selection of players, including reigning European champions Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel and Mark Lamsfuss/Isabel Lohau. Linda Efler, Kai Schaefer, Stine Kuespert and Emma Moszczynski are also among the names that have strengthened the team.

“The Sudirman Cup is never easy. It’s a tough group with two great badminton nations, Indonesia and Thailand. And Canada won’t be easy either. But we are looking forward to the tournament and will do our best,” Isabel Lohau said. .

Canada, the reigning Pan American champion, will travel to China with several top singles players such as Brian Yang and Michelle Li. Poland and recently finishing 3rd at the Mexico International last week.

You can watch the first game of Group B on the second day of the Sudirman Cup 2023 competition. In the morning session on Monday May 15, Indonesia will face Canada and Thailand will face Germany.
