The CSR/TJSL program of the Pertamina Plaju Refinery made it the winner of the WPC Excellence Awards 2023, entitled Social Responsibility category, namely “Light up more hopes (Independent Energy Village)”.

Independent Energy Village Program, featured in an article titled “Igniting More Hope: Improving the livelihoods of rural communities through empowerment of sustainable and cleaner energy sources“. From the existence of several villages in South Sumatra that have not had electricity for decades, but there is potential for constant water flow and good sun exposure.

Thus, the Pertamina Plaju refinery has developed Independent energy village distributed in South Sumatra, which allows the community to receive electrical energy supply from three microhydroelectric power station points (PLTMH) with a total capacity of 28 kWh, as well as three solar power station points (PLTS) with a capacity of 8.2 kWp. on sustainable community empowerment.

Previously, the Independent Energy Village program in South Sumatra also received the International CSR Excellence Awards 2022 in London, and in 2021, it won second place at the WPC Excellence Award 2021 in Houston, USA.

In addition to these programs, the Climate Village Program (Climate Village Program) was also one of the finalists for the WPC Excellence Awards 2023 in the Social Responsibility category, with an article entitled “Empowering Local Heroes’ Leadership: How Cultural Understanding Can Empower Local Leaders in Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Efforts“, as a response to the challenges of climate change in urban areas.

This program aims to reduce the impact of climate change on communities around the operational area of ​​the Pertamina Plaju Refinery through community empowerment and sustainable environmental management. This program has succeeded in creating more sustainable action and preparing society to better cope with climate change.
