Tenacity Antar Rika wins the international paragliding competition

Like Batu City’s codew who managed to make Indonesia proud on the international stage in paragliding competition. The paragliding athlete is Rika Wijayanti.

The 27-year-old won a gold medal in the women’s precision act at the “Paragliding Accuracy World Cup 2023” competition. The championship was held in Nongkhai, Thailand from February 16-19, 2023.

Rika herself admits that this is the umpteenth time she competes at the international level. Previously, he also participated in championships in Slovenia, Canada, Albani, Turkey.

“But the feeling of nervousness is still there, because in international competitions we meet the best athletes selected from each country, so we are mentally attacked,” he said when contacted. Eastern JavaMonday (17/4/2023).

“It’s just that no matter what, I’ve been trying to get rid of that nervous feeling this whole time by relaxing and convincing myself. So, in general, I can really do it,” said- he continued.

The spirit of never giving up eventually led him to achieve feats in the world of paragliding. Even champions in various national level competitions are also often achieved.

Rika herself did not expect to become a paragliding athlete who participated in various national and international competitions. He said his interest in paragliding originated from his home which was close to the paragliding landing in Batu town.

“My house is close to the paraglider landing site. So I often play near there and watch. Also, my brother is also a paraglider athlete, so I’ve always been used to seeing that,” said- he explained.

After knowing paragliding for a long time, when she was in high school, Rika decided to learn and explore the world of paragliding. Over time, he began to delve into the world of athletes.

“Keep honing your skills with practice. Until I can finally compete, even now I can team up with my brother,” he said.

He advised young people, especially in Malang Raya, to keep fighting to achieve their goals or desires. In this way, what is expected can be achieved.

“Never give up. The fight is not easy, when you think you are tired, you want to give up, you have to remember, you have to remember that you have come this far”, he ordered .
