Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The U-17 World Cup will only take place in two months in Indonesia. The draw is scheduled to take place at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich on September 15, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. (Central European Time) or 9:00 p.m. WIB.
The draw will be conducted by FIFA Tournament Director Jaime Yarza, accompanied by former FIFA U-17 World Cup winner Stephen Appiah and FIFA U-17 World Cup finalist Julio Cesar. 1995 edition, as assistants.
The following 24 teams will compete in this tournament, namely Argentina, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Canada, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mali, Mexico, Morocco, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Panama, Poland, Senegal, Spain, United States, Uzbekistan and Venezuela.
The 24 countries will be divided into six groups made up of four countries. The teams were divided into four pots, with one team from each pot drawn into each group.
The teams were allocated to the pots based on a points system determined based on their performances in the last five editions ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023, with the countries winning the tournament qualification of the confederation each receiving five bonus points.
Indonesia was automatically placed in pot 1 as tournament hosts. The main principle of FIFA is to ensure that no group has more than one team from the same confederation.
