The German badminton team lost all matches in the world championships

The German badminton team finished last in the group at the World Mixed Championships in China. In the final in Suzhou on Thursday, Team DBV lost to Canada 3-2.

Two-time European and mixed champion Marc Lamsfus of 1. BC Webberfield scored one of two points against Canada, who also lost after the World Cup group stage. She opted for a mixed match with Isabelle Lohau (1BC Saarbrücken-Bishmeisheim) against Tai-Alexander Lindemann and Josephine Wu in straight sets for the German Badminton Association (21:16, 21:19).

Fabian Roth lacks consistency in his game

Luhau took the second point alongside compatriot Linda Eifler in women’s doubles. In the men’s doubles match against Canada, European champion pair Lamsfoss/Maren Seidel did not play. The Wipperfelders both scored points in 1-4 defeats to Thailand and Indonesia. Finally, Malek Borakadi (TV Refrath) celebrated his World Cup debut in the senior division. However, the 20-year-old lost in three sets alongside Jones Jansen (1.BC Webberfield) to Dong Adam and Neil Yakura.

The singles specialist Fabian Roth (TV Refrath) also left empty-handed. World No. 93. He lost to Brian Young, who had 68 spots ahead of him, at 3:21 p.m. and 8:22 p.m. “Overall you did well, unfortunately not enough throughout the match. But you can build your performance,” says Roth.

DBV is still without a medal in the Sudirman Cup

In women’s singles, Yvonne Lee (SV Fun-Ball Dortelweil) lost to Michelle Lee of Canada in straight sets (21:23, 16:21). Luhao was happy with their two successes but lamented that his team couldn’t bid farewell to the World Cup with a victory: “Overall, it’s a shame that we can’t reward ourselves with a win here.”

In the so-called Suedirmann Cup, the German team last reached the quarter-finals in 2015. DBV was waiting in vain for a medal at the World Mixed Team Championships, which have been taking place since 1989.
