As reported Reuters, Monday (2/13/2023), the flying object was previously detected in Alaskan airspace before being captured entering Canadian airspace. The decision to shoot down the flying object, call the Pentagontaken jointly by the President Joe Biden and Prime Minister (PM) JJustin Trudeau.
However, information about the downing of a flying object in Canada was first announced by Trudeau on Saturday (11/2) local time. Trudeau said the flying object was shot down over the Yukon region in northern Canada.
Trudeau said the Canadian Armed Forces would search and evacuate, then analyze the debris from the downed flying object.
Canadian Defense Minister (Menhan) Anita Anand, in a separate statement, declined to speculate on the origin of the mysterious object. He only mentioned that the flying object had the shape of a cylinder or a tube.
Instead of calling the object a balloon, Anand called it smaller than Chinese spy balloon which was shot down over the coast of South Carolina, United States, on February 4, although its shape is said to be similar.
Anand further explained that the flying object flew at an altitude of 40,000 feet or the equivalent of 12,200 meters and posed a risk to civilian air traffic. The flying object was shot down on Saturday (11/2) afternoon around 3:41 p.m. local time.
“There is no reason to believe that the object’s impact on Canadian territory is a matter of public interest,” Anand told a news conference.
