“The weak point is my strength” – Amir Aliakbari sees how to win Dustin Joynson

Now blessed with extraordinary confidence after finishing streak, Amir Aliakbari plans to score hat trick when he faces Canadian top seed Dustin Joynson this Saturday morning, July 15.

The Iranian superstar faced Joynson in a heavyweight MMA match at ONE Fight Night 12: Superlek vs. Khalilov, and he believes he is in a good position to extend that streak of arrivals in Bangkok, Thailand.

Joynson is coming off his first ONE win over Hugo Cunha, where he showed off some technique striking strong enough to win the jury’s decision.

However, Aliakbari saw a gap in Joynson’s game that proved to be on his own – and he was eager to take advantage of it when they face off at Lumpinee’s iconic boxing stadium in prime time in North America.

The world champion in Grego-Roman wrestling said:

“Dustin is a good opponent. I trained for months after my last fight with Brandon, and I hope to benefit from my hard work in my next fight.

“He’s a good fighter. He has strong jaws and stamina, but that weak point is my strength. I come into this fight with a thorough analysis of my opponent’s game, and I’m not afraid to Dustin.

With those two recent finishes, the Team AAA rep now brings nine finishes to his MMA career, all of which have come via TKO.

And, having put everything into his preparations – including heading to Russia for another training camp – Aliakbari hopes his dedication will end with another victory over Joynson.

he said:

“The most important thing in my life is martial arts, and more importantly, succeeding in it. This battle will be over before we make a decision. [juri]if the Lord permits.

Aliakbari can’t wait to see potential matches in the Middle East

Amir Aliakbari had promised to go for the ONE Heavyweight World Championship when he joined ONE in 2020, but a setback in a pair of fights put all his plans on hold.

Now on a winning streak on the world stage, the 35-year-old fighter feels he is finally gaining momentum, especially after defeating his division’s reigning former king Brandon Vera last December.

Looking back on that impressive TKO, he said:

“I really liked this fight with Brandon, because he is a fighter with a lot of experience. We talked a lot before the fight, and when I beat him I got my faith back.

Aliakbari doesn’t want to think too much, but if he manages to continue his successful run this Saturday morning, there’s no doubt he’ll be back in World Championship action.

And, with his ONE Middle East debut imminent, the proud fighter knew this would be the perfect opportunity for him to challenge for gold against former opponent and current titleholder Anatoly Malykhin.

He added:

“The Middle East is my region, and naturally I would like to be able to fight in my region, where I have a lot of supporters.”

“After my heavy loss to him, Anatoly Malykhin became stronger and more proud of himself. It is my duty now to break this prestige.

“I really want to fight him for the world title in the Middle East. I hope that can happen.
