This ancient human species is still alive in Indonesia

Jakarta

An anthropologist reveals that there is a species primordial man who is presumed to still be alive today. The ancient human species is Homo floresiensis found in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.

reported from detikEdu, the species Homo floresiensis found in Flores is said to be similar to the Hobbit man depicted in the film “The Lord of the Rings”, an adaptation of the fictional novel by JRR Tolkien. In the film, the Hobbit is depicted as a human with a much shorter body than other humans in general.

Archaeologists have previously searched for evidence of the migration of modern humans from Asia to Australia in 2003. During the search, they eventually found a small complete skeleton of the species Homo floresiensis.

At first, this species was thought to have survived until about 12,000 years ago. However, upon further analysis, it was stated that the Hobbits lived until around 50,000 years ago.

Possibility of Homo Floresiensis still alive

A Canadian anthropologist, Gregory Forth, revealed that this ancient human species is probably still alive today. He suggested that the evidence for Hobbit survival may have been overlooked.

Forth, in an op-ed for The Scientist, expressed his opinion that paleontologists and other scientists had overlooked indigenous knowledge and stories about the ape-men who lived in the forests of Flores.

So said the retired University of Alberta anthropology professor while promoting his new book, which will be published under the title Between Ape and Human.

Quoted by IFL Science, Forth said he wrote the book to find the most rational and empirically supported explanation for the existence of Homo floresiensis.

“This includes vision reports from over 30 eyewitnesses, all of whom I have spoken to directly. And I conclude that the best way to explain what they are saying is that non-sapiens hominids survived on Flores until to recently, or recently. , “says Forth.

Testimony of the community of the Lio tribe in Flores on the existence of the Hobbits

In his book, Forth writes that the Lio people who inhabit the island of Flores tell of humans transforming into animals as they move around and adapt to new environments.

Lio itself is the oldest and largest ethnic group on the island of Flores. This tribe is said to be very sacred in respecting the traditions and culture of their ancestors.

“As my fieldwork reveals, these proposed changes reflect local observations of similarities and differences between ancestral species and their distinct descendants,” he said.

Additionally, Forth said the people of the Lio tribe identified the creature as an animal that didn’t have a language or the complicated technology that humans have. Nevertheless, it is also stated that they have similarities to humans.

“What they say about the creature, coupled with other evidence, is entirely consistent with those of hominin species that are either still alive or have gone extinct only in the last 100 years. “, he concluded.
