With the appearance of this unique shape, the “dickie berg”, as the locals call it the giant iceberg, has attracted international attention. Photographer Ken Pretty captured the ice formations with a drone near the town of Harbor Grace, which sits along Conception Bay.

“I knew there would be a lot of comments, but I didn’t expect so many,” Pretty told the Saltwire news agency, as quoted by SINDOnews from the Live Science page, Wednesday (05/03/2023 ). Pretty shared this photo of the giant penis-shaped iceberg on her Facebook page.

Unfortunately, the iceberg lacked strength. Pretty photographed the 30-foot (9.1-meter) phallic structure on Thursday, April 27, 2023. However, the phallic-shaped iceberg collapsed the following day.

According to the CBC, there is currently a heavy iceberg season in Newfoundland and Labrador, with more than 200 chunks of ice off the coasts of both provinces. This includes a penis-shaped iceberg consisting of a column with a domed head protruding from two oval ice cubes.

“Land breezes bring chunks of ice and icebergs. If the trend continues, we will also see it for May and June. Mother Nature gave us so little last year,” Diane Davis, who runs a Facebook group for iceberg hunters, told CBC.

Various natural phenomena with unique shapes, such as the phallus or the penis, have been repeatedly recorded in various parts of the world. In 2021, a man went viral for his photo of a penis-shaped rock tower in Arches National Park.

From Cambodia, authorities had to implore people to stop picking the carnivorous plant Nepenthes bokorensis, which looks like a penis. In California, there was an outbreak of penis fish that washed up on Drakes Beach in 2019. It is actually a sea worm, which has a long and storied history with a phallic appearance.
