Indonesia is the only country in Southeast Asia that is in the top 20 countries with good performance Harbor better. This was stated directly by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
“We should also be proud that Indonesia is the only Southeast Asian country that is in the top 20 countries with the best port performance,” Luhut said as quoted by Antara on Wednesday 12/28/2022 .
Luhut said Indonesia’s achievements based on the median waiting time for container ships reached 24.9 hours. Indonesia outperformed developed countries such as Germany, USA, Australia and others.
“Indonesia’s position is above several other developed countries such as Italy, France, Greece, Germany, the United States, Russia, Australia and Canada,” he said. he said via virtual video.
Luhut said that this achievement was inseparable from the hard work of stakeholders and ministries/agencies. He also appreciated the hard work done by the Ministry of Transport, Pelindo and other stakeholders.
“I still remember six years ago we were still struggling with a one-week stay. Now we can have 2-2.5 days,” he said.
Luhut also said the achievement was a result of digitization efforts that the government continues to encourage. Digitization in the port sector is considered to have been able to boost efficiency in order to increase state revenue and reduce opportunities for corruption as much as possible.
“The development of port connectivity and digitalization in Indonesia is on the right track. I am very happy, proud to see friends at Transportation, Pelindo, and all, we are online. Let’s keep improving this, never let up because frankly, I’m really proud that it happened,” he said.
According to data from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Indonesia is in the top 20 best port performers.
The data is based on the average movement of container ships of 1,000 GT and above in the first half of 2022. Indonesia is ranked 9th after Canada, Australia, Russia, the United States, Germany, the Greece, France and Italy.
For the category, the average arrival of Indonesian container ships is higher than the average for ports in the world. The rolling average in Indonesian ports is 24.9, higher than the rolling average for world ports of 20.1.
The average container ship turnaround time increased by 13.7% compared to 2020 and 2021.
