Elshinta.com – Two Indonesian Air Force soldiers, Ilham Leoisa and Emanuel Nahak aiming for victory in a non-title bout against their respective opponents in Pathum Thani, Thailand on Sunday (9/4).
“We did quite a long preparation, starting about three months ago at DBC and continuing with training with coach David John Treharne (from Canada). My preparation is quite good. I’m not going to waste this moment because thanks to this fight I can improve my ranking. I don’t underestimate my opponent either,” Ilham said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.
Ilham will take on Chairayat Sawangsoda in a welterweight duel, while Emanuel will take on Chanon Sonkham in a super featherweight bout.
For the two Red and White boxers, it will be the first fight in 2024. Even if there is no title to be won, Ilham and Emanuel, members of the Dirgantara Boxing Camp (DBC), are still preparing seriously.
Ilham currently holds the WBC Asian Boxing Council welterweight continental champion belt. He has a fight record of 11 wins, one loss and one draw.
Meanwhile, Chairayat, who lost in their last match, has a positive battle record with six wins and four losses. Out of the six wins, Chairayat has won five by knockout.
Meanwhile for Emanuel, this fight will be his first fight after two years away from the professional ring. Emanuel, who holds the rank of first soldier, has a record of five wins, three losses and a draw.
His opponent, Chanon, has a record of seven wins, five losses and a draw. In his last fight, Chanon earned a third-round TKO against Chayathit Titham.
The boxers underwent a medical and weigh-in today and all boxers were declared fit to enter the ring. Their trainer Dominikus Mbawo said his boxers were eager to get back in the ring.
“Ilham and Emanuel are in very good condition and are ready to fight. They are physically and mentally ready. After meeting potential opponents at the weigh-in, they have confidence that they can defeat their opponents,” Dominikus said.
The fight was a collaboration between XBC Sportech and Singmanassak Muaythai School, owned by former WBC world bantamweight and super featherweight champion from Thailand Sirimongkhon Iamthaam. This event can be followed live on the official XBC Sportech YouTube channel.
