Unilever United States (US) and Canada have recalled 19 products dry shampoos those manufactured before October 2021.
These products were withdrawn because they contained levels of benzene that may cause cancer. Exposure to benzene can occur by inhalation, orally and through the skin. It can cause cancer, including leukemia.

Based on the assessment, daily exposure to benzene in Unilever’s recalled products is not expected to cause adverse health consequences. However, Unilever continues to withdraw these products due to consumer safety awareness.
Unilever claims that these products do not use benzene as a raw material. However, traces of Benzene may appear due to its natural presence in certain raw materials.
