Unrecovering from stiff person syndrome, Celine Dion cancels remaining European tour

The announcement comes four months after the 55-year-old Quebec singer was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called stiff person syndrome, which causes muscle spasms.

At that time, disruptions forced him to postpone several European concerts on his Courage world tour.

“I'm so sorry again for disappointing you all,” the singer of the Titanic theme song, My Heart Will Go On, wrote on Instagram.

“I worked very hard to rebuild my strength. However, this tour will be very difficult, even if I try my best,” he continued, saying ticket holders would be refunded.

Stiff person syndrome causes muscle stiffness and increased sensitivity to sound, touch, and emotional stimuli, which can trigger seizures. These conditions forced the Grammy Award winner to postpone her Las Vegas residency until October 2021.

Previously, Celine Dion's European tour was scheduled to take place with 42 shows in seven cities, starting in August and ending in early October. Also taking place in 17 other cities in spring 2024, cited by The National.

The tour – his first in the United States in 10 years – began in Quebec in September 2019. It was accompanied by the release of his latest album, Courage.

The mother of three said the album title was inspired by the death of her husband and manager René Angélil, who died of throat cancer in 2016.
