WASHINGTON – Coca-Cola started using technology artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence/AI) to experiment with creating futuristic cola flavors with artificial sweeteners. This new flavor was named Coca-Cola Y3000 Zero Sugar is supposed to represent what Coca-Cola would taste like if we moved forward to the year 3000.

To that end, Coca-Cola this week released a limited-edition Coke flavor that was co-created with AI. This experiment involves guessing the taste of soft drinks 977 years in the future, gathering information and understanding how fans imagine the future through emotions, aspirations, colors, flavors and more.

“We hope Coca-Cola remains as relevant and refreshing in the year 3000 as it is today.” “So we challenged ourselves to explore the concept of Coca-Cola taste in the future,” said Oana Vlad, senior director of global strategy at The Coca-Cola Company, as quoted by pcmag’s SINDOnews, Thursday (9/14/2023).

It is known that Y3000 is a limited edition flavor that Coca-Cola offers in the United States, Canada, China, Europe and Africa. An original flavored version is also available in the United States, based on the 1886 version of Coca-Cola.

If you collect a bottle, there is a QR code to scan which provides access to the Coca-Cola Creations Hub and your photos can be filtered through the Y3000 AI Cam. Coca-Cola is also creating a limited edition clothing and accessories line with Ambush “inspired by the future”.

In June, Coca-Cola partnered with Riot Games for the League of Legends-inspired Coke Zero, and Realme launched the Coca-Cola smartphone in January. However, one of the most futuristic things Coca-Cola did was attempt to perfect paper bottles for its soft drinks.

AI was also used to create the visual identity of the drink, which ultimately became a design showcasing the liquid in a state of change and evolution. “Everything is communicated through changes in shape and color that emphasize a positive future,” Vlad said.
