Jakarta (ANTARA) – Red Bull driver Max Verstappen said the 70-lap race of the 2024 Formula 1 (F1) Canadian Grand Prix (GP) at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal on Monday (10/6) at 01:00 WIB will be quite interesting.
This was stated by the three-time F1 champion after securing P2 in qualifying with the same time as the P1 recorded by Mercedes driver George Russell, with a time of 1 minute 12 seconds.
“I think it will be quite an interesting race. It’s also raining continuously, so I hope it will be very exciting,” Verstappen was quoted as saying by F1’s official website on Sunday.
Verstappen admitted that he was not very happy with the results of the Canadian GP so far where he finished the first practice in fifth, the second practice in 18th and the third practice in second. Therefore, by securing P2 in qualifying he felt quite relieved.
“I think overall we still qualified well. I mean, the whole weekend was still a bit difficult for us, but to be in P2, I accept that,” said the Dutch driver.
Asked if Montreal, which he has dominated in the last two editions, would be a turning point after finishing only P6 at the Monaco GP two weeks ago, he said he was still not too sure.
“I mean, I felt good in Monaco but it’s not our track,” he said.
“This weekend, once again, we have not prepared well until today,” he concluded.
