VNL 2023: Matt Anderson looks solid, USA conquers Canada

Volleyball News: USA enters the final day of the 2023 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) opening week as one of only three undefeated national teams after beating Canada on Saturday (10/06), at Ottawa.

The United States played to a packed house at TD Place with nearly every fan backing Canada. The United States finally managed to clinch their third victory with the score of 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-20) in VNL 2023 which maintains their still perfect record in Pool 1.

Bronze medalist at the Rio Olympics in 2016, Matt Anderson, 36, was a key player in America’s triumph.

He was the team’s leading scorer the entire game. His stats improved from seven points against Italy to 18 against Canada.

“Every time we play against Canada, and especially in front of the home crowd, it’s a good experience for us to go forward,” Anderson said after the game was quoted by volleyballworld.

“We will definitely find them again in another tournament this season. I was coming off a pretty serious ankle problem last week, so it was a bit difficult to come back and get my rhythm back, but it’s just a It’s a matter of time before we’re all fit. We have a very experienced team so it’s just a matter of working hard to get the best results in the game.”
