Wagner’s troops withdraw to Belarus, Putin restores Russian conditions

Bisnis.comJAKARTA- Russia trying to restore the situation in his country after the rebellion of the mercenary group Wagner canceled over the weekend and withdrawn to Belarus.

The Western Allies ruled that the President of Russia Vladimir Poutine can reassert its authority in the war in Ukraine.

Ending the brief mutiny, Wagner’s fighters halted their advance on Moscow, withdrew from the southern Russian city of Rostov, and returned to base under an agreement guaranteeing their safety, Saturday (26/6/2023).

Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin will move to Belarus under a deal brokered by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Reuters reported on Monday (26/6/2023).

The RIA news agency reported that Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, one of the main targets of Prigozhin’s anger, visited Russian troops involved in military operations in Ukraine.

However, Putin, who has held power for more than two decades, has yet to be open about one of the biggest challenges of his rule.

Rebellion

“The Chinese side expressed support for the Russian Federation leadership’s efforts to stabilize the situation in the country in light of the June 24 events and confirmed its interest in further enhancing Russia’s cohesion and prosperity,” said the Russian Foreign Ministry.

China’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement supporting Russia’s efforts to maintain national stability and called recent tensions in the country Russia’s internal affairs.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed events in Russia in separate phone calls with US President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Belarusian Belta News Agency said Putin and Lukashenko spoke to each other again on Sunday (6/25/2023), after at least two calls on Saturday (6/24/2023).

Putin said in a televised address that the uprising threatened Russia’s very existence.

He vowed to punish those behind the uprising and described it as the chaos of 1917 that led to the Bolshevik Revolution.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani was quoted by Italian newspaper Il Messaggero as saying the uprising was the result of mercenary funding.

“The myth of Putin’s Russian unity is over. It’s an inevitable outcome when you support and fund legions of mercenaries,” he said.
