Jakarta is rich in young talents who have made Indonesia proud on the international scene. One of them comes from the world of education. In fact, for their achievements and intellectual abilities, they get scholarships to study in renowned universities abroad.

Three students from SMAN 8 Jakarta Selatan have won the Advanced Indonesia (BIM) scholarship to pursue their studies at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore and the University of Toronto, Canada.
They are respectively Fachri Azis, Handaru Kevin Ashshidiqie and Aditya Ilham Khairullah Seger.

Met at SMAN 8, Fachri Azis said he won a gold medal at the 2021 National Scientific Olympiad (OSN) and will continue to participate in the International Geography Olympiad (IGeo) in Paris in 2022.
“Al-Hamdulillah, I also won a gold medal. Previously, when I was in college, I also won the OSN gold medal,” he said on Friday (16/6).
Fachri explained that he was one of 40 DKI Jakarta students who received it BIM approval pursue their studies in renowned universities abroad.
“I completed my PTLN degree at NTU Singapore majoring in Environmental Engineering and University of British Columbia Canada. I chose to continue my studies at NTU. Thank God, I thanked both parents, the school and the friends who have always support,” he explained.
According to him, the chosen department i.e. environmental engineering is part of his goal to help Jakarta, Indonesia and the world to overcome various environmental problems.
“I have already aware from the beginning, even if you study abroad later, the knowledge and knowledge acquired will be maximized first as a contribution to the Indonesian nation. The environmental issues are very complex, starting with water, land and air,” said Jalan Tebet Timur resident Dalam XI, RT 03/06, Tebet Timur Urban Village, Tebet District, South of Jakarta.
Another BIM recipient, Handaru Kevin Ashshidiqie, said he won gold in a contest essay Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the national level in 2021.
“I will also participate in the National Science Student Olympiad in 2022. Al-Hamdulillah won two gold medals and one bronze
of Mathematics. When I was in college, I also became a national level chess champion in the college category,” he explained.Residents of Jalan Sandang, Block E/12, Klender Village, Kec. Duren Sawit from East Jakarta added that after attending PTLN, he graduated from seven universities abroad and chose to continue his education at the University of Toronto, Canada.

Kevin expressed his gratitude to the parents and the school for helping so much so that he could reap the rewards and continue studying abroad.
“Thank you all. I hope that the knowledge I acquire can make the best contribution, especially in terms of technological development and the digital world,” he explained.
Another SMAN 8 student, Aditya Ilham, revealed that he had achieved many achievements in the academic field with a major in Mathematics and Computer Science until his participation in OSN.
“In middle school in 2019, I won a bronze medal in math,” said Adit, a resident of Jalan Pulonangka Timur 1B, RT 09/08, Kayuputih Village, Pulogadung, East Jakarta.
Currently, Adit continued, he has passed selection at the University of Toronto, Canada, majoring in Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics, and the University of British Columbia, majoring in Bachelor of Science.
“Al-Hamdulillah has been accepted and can continue to study with BIM. I chose to continue my studies at the University of Toronto with Kevin,” he said.
SMAN 8 Principal Mukhlis said he was happy and proud of the achievements of the students at the school located at Jalan Taman Bukit Duri, Kelurahan Bukit Duri, Tebet, South Jakarta.
“Al-Hamdulillah, I think it’s not only a matter of pride for the school, but also for Jakarta and Indonesia. They will be a good example or role model for their juniors,” Mukhlis said.
He hopes that Fachri, Kevin and Adit can continue their work as SMAN 8 alumni who have made a great contribution to the Indonesian nation. I also advised later that if you already have a work, don’t forget to patent it.
