Jeddah, MINA – As many as 2,744 people, including 119 Saudi citizens and 76 other nationalities, have been safely transported from Sudan to flee to Saudi Arabia since the Saudi Kingdom’s evacuation process on April 24.
The most recent ship to arrive in Jeddah on Thursday evening (4/27/2023) was carrying 200 refugees, the Foreign Ministry reported.
HMS Riyad carries refugees from Gambia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Canada, Bahrain, Thailand, United States, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Palestine, Somalia and Egypt. As reported by Arab News.
On April 26, the largest evacuation took place, transporting 1,687 people from 58 countries from Port Sudan.
Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts are not limited to evacuation by boat, but also by air, assisting individuals, diplomats and officials around the world.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry issued a statement pledging to continue its efforts to evacuate its citizens and “citizens of friendly and friendly countries” from Sudan.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed the situation on the ground in Sudan with a number of foreign ministers and political leaders. (T/RS2/P2)
