Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8, 2022 at the age of 96. He ruled the British Empire for nearly seven decades, the longest in its history. “The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a time of great sadness for me and all of my family,” Queen Elizabeth II’s successor and eldest son, the King, said last week. Before her death, news of the Queen’s deteriorating health surfaced. He then continued to be under medical supervision. This prompted all members of the royal family to rush to Scotland to be by his side. “I know his loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, in the wild and in the Commonwealth, and by many people around the world,” King Charles III said.
Queen Elizabeth II’s physical condition has deteriorated since the end of last year. This forced him to withdraw from almost all of his public events. His last official mission dates back to the installation of the new British Prime Minister Liz Truss on Tuesday (6/9). Buckingham Palace called the Queen’s illness an “episodic mobility problem”.
Thousands of people gathered outside Buckingham Palace in central London after the Queen’s death. Crowds of people flocked to the palace gates as the monarch’s death notice was affixed to the black iron gate. There was silence as the flag was lowered.
After Elizabeth’s death, Charles automatically became King of England and head of state of 14 other kingdoms including Australia, Canada and New Zealand. He is expected to visit every country in the UK in the next few days.
