Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc leaves his car after being unable to continue racing during the Australian Formula One Grand Prix race at Sirkuir Albert Park, Melbourne on Sunday April 2, 2023.

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Sub-optimal performance in Formula 1 (F1) at the start of the 2023 season has frustrated Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc. Finally, in the race at the Australian GP, this Monaco rider collided with Lance Stroll of the Aston Martin team and failed to continue the race on Sunday (04/02/2023).

Last year’s Australian GP champion initially secured seventh position based on race results in Saturday’s qualifying (1/4). But in Sunday’s main race he was involved in contact with Stroll and had to be eliminated first on lap 1.

“It makes me very frustrated. It’s the worst start to the season ever. Really… it really frustrates me,” Leclerc said on Sunday, as quoted by Antara on the official F1 website.

Although his ambition to become champion failed due to a collision with Lance Stroll, Leclerc did not blame the Canadian rider.

“I don’t blame Lance because I don’t think he had a choice after Fernando (Alonso) slowed the car down a second time. And I couldn’t see if Lance stayed behind Fernando or not. I didn’t certainly didn’t think he was there,” said Leclerc, who is now 25.

“In turn 1 I was quiet and in turn 3 I didn’t really intend to pass Lance. Then I saw that he had to brake very early because Fernando in front was braking earlier. So I released the brakes and positioned myself to the side of Lance, and we made contact.

Meanwhile, Leclerc currently scores just six points after three Formula 1 races in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australia. He is in eighth position in the drivers’ standings.

Indeed, you could say that this season has been quite difficult for Leclerc. At the Bahrain Grand Prix he had to stop due to electrical and electrical problems in the car. In the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, he only managed to finish seventh and was hit with a penalty.
