Srinagar, MINA – Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden (Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden) is the largest tulip garden in Asia.
The park is located between Dal Lake and the Zabarwan Mountains in the Srinagar City region of the Kashmir Valley. Srinagar is the largest city and summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
In March 2023, the various tulips bloom in all their colors and are ready to welcome tourists next week. The colors that make up a rainbow pattern, such as red, orange, purple, white, pink, and yellow. The extensive tulip garden of various colors makes the garden look like an intricately patterned silk carpet.
Inam-ul-Rehman, the head of the tulip garden, said, “The preparations such as gardening, engineering, fungicide treatments, nutrient spraying and small repairs that we do before the tulip festival,” he said, as mentioned. Trade Standardedition of Sunday, March 12, 2023.
He said the park, which has become a well-known landmark across the country, will be open to the public from March 19, 2023.
Along with 1.5 million tulips in various colors and patterns, the park, also known as Siraj Bagh, will feature other spring flowers such as hyacinths, daffodils, muscari and cyclamen.
“Every year we expand this garden and new varieties are here. This year we have expanded the range of fountains. It can be an example of professional gardening all over the world,” Rehman said.
He said there will be a rainbow of tulip colors this year from yellow, red, dark red, purple and white.
“Under the shadow of the Zabarwan mountains, it gives this garden a charming atmosphere. That’s why people love this park,” he added.
Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, superintendent of the tulip garden, said preparations for the tulip garden have reached their peak, preparing to open next week.
Expecting many visitors to the park this season, work was continuing day and night, he continued.
The largest tulip garden
Tulip flower is the generic name for 100 species of flowering plants.
Tulips come from Central Asia. The Netherlands is known as the land of tulips. The tulip is also the national flower of Iran and Turkey. (Wikipedia).

Some of the most famous are at Emirgan Park (Turkiye), Tonami Tulip Fair (Japan), Shanghai Flower Port (China), Agassiz Tulip Festival (Canada), Skagit Valley Tulip Festival Washington (USA), and of course Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden Kashmir (India).
Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden (India), is a 30-hectare tulip garden, with 48 varieties of tulips, which is the largest tulip garden in Asia.
This sprawling garden opened in 2008, the brainchild of Ghulam Nabi Azad, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir in 2006-2007. The purpose of establishing this garden was to improve floriculture and promote tourism in the Kashmir valley.
Another particularity, this garden is built on a sloping ground in a terraced style, consisting of seven terraces, with a view of the Dal Lake.
The backdrop of the majestic snow covered Himalayas adds to the charm of this tourist attraction.
This garden, known as Siraj Bagh, has about 1.5 million tulips, of different colors, with 46 types of flowers.
Flowing streams and fountains add to the charm of the place and make it an iconic location for photographs.
Tulip Garden is also known as Silsila Park due to famous soundtrack of Bollywood song “Dekha ek khwab” from movie Silsila starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha, is depicted in this garden.
Several other movies also take place in this park.
This natural park is also a great place for photographers to hone their skills and capture the beauty of nature.
This major tourist spot in Srinagar, Kashmir comes alive in spring during the Tulip Festival.
Near the Tulip Gardens are Shalimar Gardens, Nishat Gardens, Chashm-e-Shahi Gardens and Mughal Gardens.
Open to the public, this festival is a must-do in Kashmir for all types of tourists as it aims to showcase the park’s natural beauty, rich Kashmir culture, handicrafts and cuisine.
