OTTAWA, KOMPAS.com – Canada will host an investiture ceremony of British King Charles III as Head of State.

The Office of the Governor General of Canada has announced that the inauguration ceremony will take place on Saturday (10/9/2022).

The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. local time (0900 GMT) at Rideau Hall, the official residence of the UK-appointed Office of the Governor General of Canada, who acts on behalf of the King.

Charles automatically becomes King of England and head of state of 14 other countries, including Canada, when his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, dies on Thursday (8/9/2022).

Canada is still a member of the Commonwealth of Nations where the King of England is the Head of State.

As previously reported by Kompas.com, King Charles III was officially proclaimed king to the public on Saturday afternoon local time.

Church bells rang across England on Friday (9/9/2022) at midday in honor of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth II reigned for 70 years and broke records. His reign proceeded steadily.

“During this time of grief and change, my family and I will be comforted and strengthened by our memories of the deep respect and affection with which the Queen was widely known,” Charles said on Friday.

Buckingham Palace said the King and other members of the Royal Family will observe a period of mourning until the Queen is buried.
