Canada has been named the second best country in the world for 2023, according to a new ranking released by US News, communications company WPP and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
inside Ranking of the best countries in 2024, US News analyzes various factors, from a country’s military and economic power to the quality of life of its residents. This assessment covers 87 countries and is based on responses collected from more than 17,000 global citizens.
Participants were also asked to match countries with different qualities across ten subcategories, including power, cultural influence, heritage and social influence. The results of this association made it possible to create a list of the best countries in the world, as well as almost 100 other different rankings.
In this year’s rankings, Canada placed second, ahead of Germany, thanks to its exceptional performance in terms of agility, according to the report. However, it remains behind Switzerland as the best country in the world in 2024.
Canada also placed in the top five in three additional sub-rankings, including quality of life. Additionally, the country excels by ranking first in several areas, including racial equality.
Switzerland continues to maintain its position as the best country in the world for the second year in a row and the sixth time overall.
This small European country excels in the “Open for Business” underrating, which indicates its strong economic power. Switzerland maintained its position in the top 10 in the other four sub-rankings and also ranked first for attributes related to the perception of the country’s security.
Sweden finished third, making a dramatic jump of two places from fifth place in 2022.
Sweden’s outstanding performance includes first place in two sub-rankings, including social goals and quality of life. The country also maintained its strong position in the top ten of the other three sub-rankings.
After Sweden, Australia is in fourth place, seeing a significant increase of three places from the previous year’s ranking.
Canada’s neighbor, the United States, ranks fifth, which is a slight drop from its 2022 ranking. The United States ranks first in three important sub-rankings: entrepreneurship, strength and ‘agility.
