Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Bilateral Cooperation Group (GKSB) of the House of Representatives and the Canadian Parliament held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the issue of gender equality and renewable energy at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta .
“Indonesia's cooperation with Canada includes, among others, economy, energy, gender equality and cultural exchanges,” said GKSB DPR RI Chairman Sari Yuliati during the visit. Canadian Ambassador Jess Dutton.

She explained the importance of improving women's skills and that this was in line with the Canadian government's concrete programs.
“In the area of gender equality, the Government of Canada has a concrete program to improve the skills of women, especially those at lower middle economic levels,” he explained.
At the bilateral forum, Sari was accompanied by member of the GKSB DPR RI – Canadian Parliament Darizal Basir. Meanwhile, the Canadian Embassy in Jakarta was also attended by the First Secretary for Political and Public Affairs, Stuart Shaw, and the Second Secretary for Development Cooperation and Foreign Policy, Thida Souksanh.

Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Canada began when the two countries signed an agreement on each diplomatic mission opened on October 9, 1952.
Historically, relations between the two countries began in 1948, notably amid Indonesia's efforts to seek political support and international recognition at the United Nations forum for its independence proclaimed on August 17, 1945.
General McNaughton of Canada, as President of the UN Security Council at the time, in the uncertain conditions of post-World War II, played a role in determining the success of the adoption of 'a resolution that finally made Indonesia a sovereign country.
