The spokesperson added that the company will continue to review its operations and further cut some positions as the business grows.

The company said the cut was far less than layoffs taking place at Suncor, where new CEO Rich Kruger has promised to cut costs, increase efficiency and simplify operations.

Previously, Suncor Energy previously announced the layoff of 1,500 employees. Then the energy company Imperial Oil also laid off a number of contractors working at the Kearl oil refinery.

TC Energy Corp owns and operates the Keystone pipeline and transports 25% of all natural gas consumed in North America.
