Canadian Prime Minister congratulates Prabowo Subianto, ready to establish cooperation

Canadian Prime Minister (PM) Justin Trudeau congratulated President-elect Prabowo Subianto via a phone call he received in Jakarta, Wednesday (1/5/2024).

During this telephone conversation, Prabowo and the Canadian Prime Minister underlined their commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two countries, which includes, among others, the negotiation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Canada and Indonesia .

“It is a pleasure to congratulate you on your victory in the general elections. “I’m very happy,” Justin said.

“Thank you sir. It would be an honor for me to receive a call directly from you. I have always been in awe of your father, you and your leadership. “I really look forward to working with you,” said Prabowo .

“I’m really looking forward to sitting down with you and meeting you. So we can start well. Indonesia's leadership is important, not only in the region, but also in the world. “I want to learn this so we can grow together,” said Prime Minister Justin.

Justin believes Prabowo has many ideas to propose to strengthen the partnership between Indonesia and Canada.

Some of the issues discussed by Prabowo and Prime Minister Trudeau during the conversation included the continued implementation of the Indo-Pacific Strategy and opportunities to work together on mining governance.

“Thank you Justin. I feel very honored. Thank you very much. I look forward to meeting you,” concluded Prabowo.
