Catapult incident in an amusement park in France, a 17-year-old teenager dies

Luna Park director Pierrick Pubil admitted that he had never seen an accident at the amusement park. Four people were arrested for questioning by police over the incident, including the manager.

“As soon as I was arrested by the police, I only thought of the victim’s family. Of the little children. It haunted me. This terrible incident happened there. It will remain in my memory for the rest of my life,” Pubil told Midi. Free.

After the fatal incident, the public announced that the Adrenaline ride would be closed permanently to honor the lives lost.

If authorities give permission, Pubil said the vehicle would be dismantled. He is also ready to contribute to the funeral costs of the unfortunate teenager.

“We will do whatever we have to do, but it will never be enough. It is a pain that will always be in our hearts,” he said.

Local prosecutor Raphael Balland said there were two accident victims from the Adrenalin ride. “A 17-year-old boy died as a result of his injuries and a 19-year-old young woman was rushed to Montpellier hospital,” Balland said.

The teens, according to Balland, hit an obstacle when they jumped from a slingshot or cable. The vehicle’s rotational speed reached 70 miles per hour, or about 112 kilometers per hour.

The investigation itself continues, after police arrested four people for questioning. They were all temporarily released.

The mayor of Cap d’Adge, Gilles d’Ettore, also spoke out on the Luna Park incident. He said it was very windy that night, which is very rare in Agde.

The catapult ride itself is an attraction that tethers passengers with safety ropes before being launched into the air up to 180 feet or approximately 54.8 meters. Then, passengers are pushed to swing on the cable at high speeds that stimulate adrenaline.

However, several eyewitnesses told local media that the cable deviated from its correct path and passengers on the Adrenalin ride crashed into the metal pole holding the swing. After that, both passengers were thrown from the safety rope.

According to the Midi Libre archives, it turns out that this terrible incident on the Adrenaline ride at Luna Park is not the first time this has happened. In 2019, a man required stitches after hitting his head on the ground after doing the Adrenaline ride.

In 2015, a young couple was reportedly thrown from the Adrenaline catapult when the swing broke in mid-air.
