Changing Japan, Singapore becomes the most powerful passport holder in the world

Jakarta

Singapore successfully occupies the first position as the country with the strongest passport. This country has overtaken Japan, which has been in this position for 5 years.

The Henley Passport Index has announced a list of the strongest passports in the world for 2023. Singapore would top the ranking this year.

“Singapore is officially the strongest passport in the world, with its citizens able to travel to 192 destinations from 227 destinations across the world visa-free,” wrote the Henley Passport Index in its official statement.

Under Singapore are Germany, Italy and Spain. Passports from these three countries can be used for visa-free travel to 190 countries.

So where is Japan’s position?

Apparently, Sakura State fell to position 3. Along with South Korea, Austria, Finland, France, and Luxembourg, they can travel visa-free to 189 countries.

According to Henley & Partners President Christian H Kaelin, a sound passport is more than just a travel document that demonstrates the freedom to travel.

“A strong passport also provides great financial freedom when it comes to international investments and business opportunities,” Kaelin said.

The Henley Passport Index was launched by Henley & Partners, an immigration consultancy in London. This index is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and ranks 199 passports worldwide. The index is updated in real time throughout the year as visa policy changes come into effect.
