Charles Leclerc upset by Ferrari’s decision in Canadian GP qualifying

F1 News: Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc was annoyed by his team’s decision to qualify for the Canadian F1 GP on Saturday (6/17) local time. Leclerc failed to penetrate the third qualifying session (Q3) due to Ferrari’s wrong and late decision.

The qualifying session at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve was hampered by heavy rain. Before the start of the rain, Charles Leclerc had asked his team’s crew to change tires but the response was slow. This decision by Ferrari then had an impact on Leclerc who then failed to break into Q3. After the session, he got angry and expressed his disappointment with Ferrari, which seemed to complicate things for me.

“Well, sure. I mean I asked to use the dry on the last lap, it was definitely on the dry. I think Alex did it, he was out before the whole world in the dry. And it was definitely the right decision. Nothing risky. For some reason the team decided otherwise. And that’s it. I think we made our life too complicated. In this situation, I had a clear opinion, but yeah, we decided to do something else. So I got frustrated,” Leclerc said.

“Even so, the other drivers followed the same strategy as us and entered Q3. But you already rely on the small details instead of going easy in Q2. When the track is dry, you need dry tyres. And I don’t know what happened,” he said.
