Bisnis.com, JAKARTA — President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) chaired the 26th ASEAN-China Summit attended by the leaders of ASEAN countries as well as the Chinese Prime Minister. Li Qiang in network ASEAN Summit 2023 at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, Wednesday (6/9/2023).
During the forum, Jokowi stressed that concrete cooperation between ASEAN and China is necessary by prioritizing trust or a relationship of trust.
He said China is one of four ASEAN dialogue partners with comprehensive strategic partner status.
“This year marks the 20th anniversary of China’s joining Treaty of friendship and cooperation. Therefore, we have to interpret all of this by achieving mutually beneficial concrete cooperation, where this can only be done if we have mutual trust which of course must be built and maintained by all parties,” he said during from the forum.
The Head of State believes that through concrete trust and cooperation, relations between countries can become a positive force for regional stability and peace.
Of course, he underlined that this effort could not be separated from other good intentions, among which respect for international law.
It should also be noted that the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia will lead the 24th Asean-Republic of South Korea Summit which will also be attended by the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol and the 26th Asean-Japan Summit with Japanese representatives. Prime Minister (PM) Fumio Kishida.
In the afternoon, successively, the President of Surakarta is also expected to attend the 26th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit. The meeting to be held in Hall 3 of Cenderawasih will also bring together the leaders of China, the Republic of Korea and Japan.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the head of state is also expected to have a bilateral meeting with US Vice President Kamala Harris. In addition, the number one personality in Indonesia and the country’s leaders will attend the 11th Asean-US Summit which will also be held in Hall 3 of Cenderawasih, JCC.
In addition, the ASEAN-Canada summit will be held in the presence of the leaders of the ASEAN countries with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In the evening, Jokowi and Mrs. Iriana Joko Widodo, along with state leaders and their companions, will attend a dinner within the framework of the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
